Under the bed
Don't look down, under the bed.
Don't peek, whatever you do.
You think you'll see a monster,
you'll probably find a shoe.
Have you been hearing sounds?
Scraping, creaks or squawks?
Is it really a horrible creature,
or just neighbours taking a walk?
What's that shape in the corner,
lying there, by the door?
Is it a slippery old adder?
Or smelly socks flung on the floor?
That tapping there, on the window,
what on earth could that be?
A bogieman getting at you
or only wind in the tree?
So now, darling, don't worry,
when off to your warm, lovely bed.
The only thing to be scared of
is the fear goin’ on in your head.
